Asking 'Why?' (ဘာကြောင့် / ဘာလို့)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'ဘာကြောင့်' (ba-kyaung) or 'ဘာလို့' (ba-lo) at the start or middle of a sentence to ask for a reason.
- Use 'ဘာကြောင့်' for formal or written contexts: 'ဘာကြောင့် မလာတာလဲ။' (Why didn't you come?)
- Use 'ဘာလို့' for casual, daily conversation: 'ဘာလို့ ငိုနေတာလဲ။' (Why are you crying?)
