Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
To negate a modal verb in Bengali, simply place the negative particle 'না' (na) after the main verb.
- Place 'না' after the main verb: 'আমি যেতে পারি' (I can go) becomes 'আমি যেতে পারি না' (I cannot go).
- For 'must' (হবে), use 'হবে না' to express prohibition: 'এটা করা যাবে না' (This must not be done).
- The particle 'না' remains unchanged regardless of the subject's person or number.
