Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Vowel diacritics (Kar) are small symbols attached to consonants to change their sound, acting like the 'a, e, i, o, u' of Bengali.

  • Every consonant has an inherent 'a' sound unless a Kar is added.
  • Kars are attached to the right, left, top, or bottom of a consonant.
  • When a vowel starts a word, use the full letter; when it follows a consonant, use the Kar.
Consonant + Kar = New Syllable (e.g., ক + া = কা)
