Indirect Objects: Giving to someone
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Armenian, use the suffix '-ին' (-in) or '-յան' (-yan) to indicate the recipient of an action.
- Add '-ին' to most nouns to show 'to' someone: 'ընկերոջը' (to the friend).
- Use the dative case for indirect objects: 'Ես տալիս եմ գիրքը ընկերոջս' (I give the book to my friend).
- Pronouns change form: 'ինձ' (to me), 'քեզ' (to you).
Meanings
The dative case indicates the indirect object, usually the recipient of an action or the person/thing toward whom an action is directed.
Recipient
The person receiving something.
“Ես տալիս եմ գիրքը ուսուցչին։”
