Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Georgian verbs change their endings based on who is doing the action (the subject).

  • 1st person (I/We) often uses prefixes like 'v-'. Example: v-ts'er (I write).
  • 2nd person (You) often uses prefixes like 'h-' or 'kh-'. Example: ts'er (You write).
  • 3rd person (He/She/It/They) uses specific suffixes like '-s' or '-en'. Example: ts'ers (He writes).

Drop the Pronoun

You don't need 'me' or 'shen'. The verb says it all!
⚠️

Watch the 'v-'

Always check if you are the subject. If yes, start with 'v-'.
🎯

Listen for the '-s'

If you hear '-s' at the end, someone else is doing it.
💬

Casual Speech

In casual speech, people might skip the 'v-'. Don't do it until you are advanced!

Smart Tips

Look for the 'v-' prefix first.

ts'er (You write) vts'er (I write)

Drop the pronoun 'me'.

me vts'er (I write) vts'er (I write)

Assume it's 'he' or 'she'.

vts'ers (I write - wrong) ts'ers (He writes - correct)

Combine the 'v-' prefix and '-t' suffix.

vts'er (I write) vts'ert (We write)
