Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Most Kazakh words follow vowel harmony, but loanwords often ignore it, requiring suffixes to match the final syllable's vowel.

  • If a word is a loanword, check the last syllable's vowel.
  • Attach suffixes based on that final vowel, ignoring the rest of the word.
  • If the word ends in a consonant, treat it as a hard or soft base based on the last vowel.
Last Vowel of Word + Suffix = Harmony Match
