Ordinal Numbers in Portuguese (primeiro, segundo, terceiro...)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Ordinal numbers indicate position and must agree in gender and number with the noun they describe.
- Use 'primeiro/a' for 1st and 'segundo/a' for 2nd: 'O primeiro dia'.
- Numbers change to match the noun: 'A primeira casa' (feminine).
- After 10th, they are less common in daily speech: 'O décimo primeiro'.
