Gender Basics (Genul)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Romanian nouns are either masculine, feminine, or neuter, and their gender determines how you use articles and adjectives.
- Masculine nouns usually end in a consonant: 'băiat' (boy).
- Feminine nouns usually end in -ă or -a: 'fată' (girl).
- Neuter nouns act like masculine in singular and feminine in plural: 'scaun' (chair).

it. A table is an it. A book is an it. In Romanian, things have a bit more personality. Every single noun belongs to a gender family.a or the. It might feel like extra work at first. But honestly, it gives the language a beautiful rhythm. Even native speakers had to learn this once, so don't worry!این گرامر چطور کار میکنه
-ă. Then there is the Neuter gender. This is the chameleon of Romanian.one, two test.un (one), doi (two). For feminine: o (one), două (two). For neuter: un (one), două (two).one from masculine and the two from feminine? It’s a bit of a thief, but we love it anyway.الگوی ساخت
-u, it is likely Masculine or Neuter. To be sure, check the plural. If the plural ends in -i, it is Masculine. If the plural ends in -uri or -e, it is Neuter.
-ă, -e, or -ea, it is almost certainly Feminine.
one, two count. un băiat (one boy), doi băieți (two boys) → Masculine. o fată (one girl), două fete (two girls) → Feminine. un scaun (one chair), două scaune (two chairs) → Neuter.
tată (father) ends in -ă but is Masculine because, well, he is a dad!

O cafea (a coffee) is feminine. If you ask for un cafea, the waiter will still understand you, but it sounds like wearing socks with sandals.Casa (the house) is feminine. When you talk about your job, you use it.Un job is masculine/neuter. It tells the adjectives how to behave. If you want to say a big car, the word big must match the feminine car. It is like a dance where the noun is the leader and the other words follow its steps.کی استفاده نکنیم
neutral escape in Romanian. Unlike English, you cannot just use the for everything and hope for the best. However, you don't need to stress about gender when using verbs in the present tense.mănâncă (he/she eats) stays the same whether a masculine băiat or a feminine fată is doing the eating. You also don't need to worry about it with most adverbs. If something happens quickly, the gender of who is doing it doesn't matter.gender-fluid sentence is better than silence!اشتباهات رایج
două scauni instead of două scaune. Another classic mistake is assuming all nouns ending in -a are feminine. While most are, some imported words or names can be tricky. Also, don't assume objects have a logical gender. Why is a fork (furculiță) feminine but a knife (cuțit) masculine? There is no deep philosophical reason. It is just the way the words evolved. Don't look for logic where there is only tradition. Just memorize the one, two count for new words. It is the safest shortcut.مقایسه با الگوهای مشابه
he, she, and it. In Romanian, it doesn't really exist as a separate category for objects. Everything is either a he or a she (or a hybrid). It makes the world feel a bit more alive.سؤالات رایج
