Both are used for passive voice, but 'thuk' is for suffering/negative outcomes, while 'dai-rap' is for positive/neutral ones.
Both mean 'to say' in news, but 'phoei' implies revealing something new or a secret, while 'ra-bu' is for stating specific facts or details.

Treat the whole 'Kan' phrase as one big noun. Don't try to translate the verb inside it first.
Replace 'bok' (tell) with 'chaeng' (inform/clarify).
Assume the first noun is the subject and the second is the object/result.

Thai news often uses very dramatic adjectives like 'สลด' (tragic) or 'สยอง' (horrifying) which might seem unprofessional in Western journalism but is standard in Thai 'sensationalist' media.
The way news refers to people changes based on status. A high-ranking official is 'ท่าน' (Than) or their title, while a criminal might be referred to by their nickname or 'นาย' (Nai).
A completely different set of verbs (Ratchasap) is used for the Royal Family. 'To go' becomes 'เสด็จพระราชดำเนิน'.
Thai news syntax evolved from the 'Royal Gazette' (Ratchakitchanubeksa) and early newspapers in the Rama V era, heavily influenced by English journalistic styles but adapted with high-register Pali/Sanskrit vocabulary.
