Asking 'What' with 'Gì'
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'gì' at the end of a sentence to turn a statement into a 'what' question.
- Place 'gì' at the end of the sentence: 'Bạn làm gì?' (What are you doing?)
- Use 'gì' to ask about objects or actions, not people: 'Đây là gì?' (What is this?)
- Keep the word order the same as a statement: 'Bạn ăn gì?' (What do you eat?)

The word 'gì' functions as the interrogative pronoun 'what' in Vietnamese, used to inquire about objects, actions, or abstract concepts.
