pour que
When we use the French phrase "pour que", it's important to remember that it's always followed by the subjunctive mood. This is because "pour que" introduces a purpose or a goal, and in French, expressing purpose often triggers the subjunctive.
For example, if you want to say "I'm studying so that I can pass the exam," you would say "J'étudie pour que je puisse réussir à l'examen." Notice how "pouvoir" (to be able to) is in the subjunctive form "puisse."
Another example: "Elle travaille dur pour qu'il soit heureux" (She works hard so that he is happy). Here, "être" (to be) is in the subjunctive form "soit."
Always pay attention to the verb tense that follows "pour que" – it will almost always be in the subjunctive!
