En hindi, exprimer la possibilité ne consiste pas seulement à dire « peut-être ». C'est une question de nuance. Es-tu sûr à 50 % ?
À 90 % ? Nous passons des simples faits au monde du « pourrait », « peut-être » et « probablement ».

How This Grammar Works

L'hindi utilise généralement deux outils principaux pour exprimer la possibilité : le mot shayad (peut-être) et le verbe sakna (pouvoir). Tu connais déjà sakna pour la capacité (« Je peux nager »), mais au niveau B2, il se transforme en possibilité (« Il peut pleuvoir »).
L'ambiance change selon la forme verbale :
  • sakta hai : Utilisé pour une possibilité générale.
  • shayad + Futur/Subjonctif : Utilisé pour la spéculation. « Peut-être qu'il viendra ».
  • ho sakta hai : Une phrase toute faite signifiant « Il est possible que... ».

2. Utiliser ga/ge/gi avec shayad trop strictement
Les natifs omettent souvent le ga pour utiliser le subjonctif : shayad woh aaye.
