In Vietnamese families, the 'hiền' quality is often expected of women and elders, representing the 'soft' power that keeps the family together. While used everywhere, the phrase often evokes a sense of rural simplicity and honesty (chất phác), contrasting with the perceived 'sharpness' of city life.
