Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the Imperfect Subjunctive with the Conditional to talk about unlikely or imaginary situations in the present or future.
- Use 'si' + imperfect subjunctive for the condition: 'Si tuviera dinero...'
- Use the conditional tense for the result: '...viajaría por el mundo.'
- The order can be reversed: 'Viajaría por el mundo si tuviera dinero.'
Overview
Si tuviera dinero, viajaría por el mundo.（もしお金があれば、世界中を旅行するだろうに。）- 1純粋な空想: 現実には起こりそうにないことについて話す時。「もし私が鳥だったら、空を飛ぶのに」のような、現実離れした仮定です。
- 2アドバイス: 「もし君の立場だったら、私はこうするよ」という助言。
Si yo fuera tú, aceptaría la oferta.のように、相手の状況を仮定して自分の意見を述べる際、非常に洗練された響きを与えます。 - 3丁寧な婉曲表現: 直接的な命令を避けたい時。
¿Podrías ayudarme?（手伝ってくれる？）のように、条件法単体を使うことで、相手に選択の余地を残し、非常に丁寧な響きになります。
- 1二重条件法の誤り: 日本語話者が最もやりがちなのが、
siの節にも条件法を使ってしまうことです。「もし～だろうなら」という日本語の思考が干渉するためです。Si tendría dinero, compraría...は誤りです。siの後は必ず接続法（tuviera）にすることを徹底しましょう。 - 2アクセントの忘れ: 条件法の語尾（-ía）には必ずアクセント記号が必要です。これがないと発音が変わり、文法的なミスとして目立ちます。特に
íの位置を意識してください。 - 3時制の不一致:
si節で現在形を使い、帰結節で条件法を使うという混ぜ合わせです。Si tengo tiempo, viajaría.は、現実的な条件と非現実的な結果を混ぜており、文法的に不自然です。もし現実的な条件なら、直説法（Si tengo tiempo, viajaré）を使うべきです。
