Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Jodakshar are two or more consonants joined together to create a single sound unit in Gujarati script.

  • Remove the vertical bar (dando) of the first consonant: 'ક' + 'ત' = 'ક્ત'.
  • Use the 'halant' (્) mark to show a consonant has no vowel: 'દ' + 'ય' = 'દ્ય'.
  • Some letters change shape entirely, like 'જ' + 'ઞ' = 'જ્ઞ'.
