Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
To negate 'to be' in Armenian, simply place the negative particle 'չ-' (ch-) directly onto the verb form.
- Use 'չեմ' (chem) for 'I am not'. Example: Ես ուսանող չեմ (I am not a student).
- Use 'չես' (ches) for 'You are not'. Example: Դու հոգնած չես (You are not tired).
- Use 'չէ' (che) for 'He/She/It is not'. Example: Սա գիրք չէ (This is not a book).
