播放器
When you want to say 'player' in Chinese, like a music player or a video player, the word you need is 播放器 (bō fàng qì).
This word is made of two parts: 播放 (bō fàng), which means 'to broadcast' or 'to play,' and 器 (qì), which means 'device' or 'implement.'
So, literally, it's a 'playing device.' You'll hear this a lot when talking about media devices.
It's a really useful word to know for describing everyday gadgets.
When you want to say "player" in Chinese, as in a device that plays music or videos, the most common and practical word is 播放器 (bò fàng qì).
You might use this word when talking about a music player, a video player, or even a media player on your computer or phone. It literally means "broadcast/play device."
For example, you could say "我有一个新的音乐播放器" (Wǒ yǒu yīgè xīn de yīnyuè bòfàngqì) which means "I have a new music player."
Or, if you're asking about a video player, you could say "这个视频播放器很好用" (Zhège shìpín bòfàngqì hěn hǎo yòng), meaning "This video player is very easy to use."
When you're learning Chinese, you'll find that words are often made up of smaller parts that give you a clue about their meaning. Take 播放器 (bōfàngqì), for instance. It means 'player' or 'media player', like a music player or video player.
Let's break it down: 播放 (bōfàng) means 'to broadcast' or 'to play' (as in playing a song), and 器 (qì) is a common suffix for 'device' or 'instrument'. So, literally, it's a 'play-device'.
You can use 播放器 to talk about various types of media players. For example, if you want to say 'music player', you can say 音乐播放器 (yīnyuè bōfàngqì). If you're referring to a video player, it's 视频播放器 (shìpín bōfàngqì).
It's a useful word to know, especially if you're into music, movies, or anything that involves playing media on a device!
When talking about things that play audio or video, like a music player or a video player, the word to use is 播放器 (bò fàng qì).
It literally translates to "play device" or "broadcast device."
You can use it for software like a media player on your computer, or for physical devices like an MP3 player.
For example, if you want to say "My phone has a music player," you'd say 我的手机有一个音乐播放器 (Wǒ de shǒujī yǒu yīgè yīnyuè bòfàngqì).
播放器 30秒で
- 播放器 (bò fàng qì) means 'player'.
- It can refer to a physical device (like an MP3 player) or software (like a media player app).
- Think of it as 'something that plays' audio or video.
§ What does it mean and when do people use it?
The Chinese word 播放器 (bò fàng qì) is a really useful term to know, especially in our modern, tech-heavy world. Simply put, it means 'player.' Think of anything that plays media – music, videos, or even some games – and you're probably talking about a 播放器.
- DEFINITION
- A device or software that plays digital media like music or videos.
You'll hear this word all the time. If you're talking about your phone as a music device, it's a 播放器. That app you use to watch movies? Also a 播放器. Even an old-school CD player could be referred to as a 播放器, though less commonly now. It's a broad term that covers a lot of ground.
我手机里的音乐播放器很好用。 (Wǒ shǒujī lǐ de yīnyuè bò fàng qì hěn hǎo yòng.)
Translation hint: "The music player on my phone is very easy to use."
Notice how in the example, we specified 'music player' by adding 音乐 (yīnyuè, music) before 播放器. This is a common way to be more specific. You can do the same for video players (视频播放器, shìpín bò fàng qì) or even media players in general (媒体播放器, méitǐ bò fàng qì).
Here are some common scenarios where you'd use 播放器:
- Talking about a specific app on your phone or computer: "哪个播放器可以播放这个视频?" (Nǎ ge bò fàng qì kěyǐ bò fàng zhège shìpín?) - Translation hint: "Which player can play this video?"
- Referring to physical devices: "我需要一个新的MP3播放器。" (Wǒ xūyào yī ge xīn de MP3 bò fàng qì.) - Translation hint: "I need a new MP3 player."
- When discussing features of a device: "这款手机的视频播放器效果很好。" (Zhè kuǎn shǒujī de shìpín bò fàng qì xiàoguǒ hěn hǎo.) - Translation hint: "This phone's video player works very well."
So, whether you're streaming music, watching a downloaded movie, or even listening to an audiobook, the thing that makes it all happen is a 播放器. It's a truly essential word for navigating daily life in a Chinese-speaking environment, especially if you're into any kind of digital media.
这个播放器支持很多格式。 (Zhège bò fàng qì zhīchí hěn duō géshì.)
Translation hint: "This player supports many formats."
As you can see, it's a straightforward word that applies to both hardware and software. Just remember the context to understand if you're talking about a physical device or an application. Mastering this word will instantly make your conversations about technology much smoother.
Let's dive into how to use the Chinese word 播放器 (bò fàng qì). This word is a noun, and it means 'player' – like a music player or video player. Think of your iPod, your Spotify app, or even a DVD player. In Chinese, they're all 播放器.

我喜欢听音乐。(Wǒ xǐhuan tīng yīnyuè.) - I like to listen to music.
Learners often mix '说' with '讲' or '告诉' as they all relate to speaking, but '说' is a general verb for 'to speak' or 'to say'.

Similar to '是', '有' can be confusing because it means 'to have' but also indicates existence, which can sometimes be expressed with 'to be' in English.
'有' means 'to have' or 'there is/are'. It expresses possession or existence. It's not used for descriptive adjectives like 'He is tall'.
我有一个苹果。(Wǒ yǒu yīgè píngguǒ.) - I have an apple.
'不' and '没' both negate, but their usage depends on the verb tense, type of verb, and specific context.

Learn the Characters for '播放器'
Break down 播放器: 播 (bō) means to broadcast or sow, 放 (fàng) means to release or put, and 器 (qì) means device or utensil. Together, it's a 'broadcast release device'.
Listen to Music on a Bōfàngqì
A great way to remember 播放器 is to actively use it. Think about your phone or a dedicated device when you listen to music. 你用什么播放器听音乐? (Nǐ yòng shénme bōfàngqì tīng yīnyuè? What player do you use to listen to music?)
Differentiate from '电视机'
While both are devices, 播放器 (bōfàngqì) is specifically for playing media (often audio), whereas 电视机 (diànshìjī) is a television set. Don't confuse them.
Contextualize with '音乐'
You'll often hear 播放器 used with 音乐 (yīnyuè), meaning music. For example, 音乐播放器 (yīnyuè bōfàngqì) is a music player. 我的音乐播放器坏了。 (Wǒ de yīnyuè bōfàngqì huàile. My music player is broken.)

Look for it in Chinese Apps
If you use Chinese apps for music or video, look for the term 播放器. You'll likely see it labeled on player controls or settings. This is real-world exposure.

Don't Overthink It
At the A1 level, focus on simply recognizing and using 播放器 as 'player'. Don't get bogged down in nuances of 'media player' versus 'audio player' just yet. Keep it simple and practical.
