Definite Article: Plural (-те)

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Bulgarian, you add '-те' to the end of a plural noun to say 'the' instead of using a separate word.

  • Add '-те' to plural nouns ending in -и or -е: 'столове' (chairs) -> 'столовете' (the chairs).
  • If the noun ends in -а, change it to -ите: 'жени' (women) -> 'жените' (the women).
  • The article is always attached to the end of the noun, never as a separate word.
Noun (plural) + те = The Noun
