Basic Sentence Structure: SOV (Subject-Object-Verb)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Burmese, the verb always goes at the very end of the sentence.
- Subject comes first: 'ကျွန်တော်' (I) eat rice.
- Object comes second: I 'ထမင်း' (rice) eat.
- Verb comes last: I rice 'စားတယ်' (eat).
Meanings
Burmese is a strictly head-final language, meaning the action (verb) is placed at the end of the clause.
