हेल्प चाहिए

Just drop it when you are in a bind. You do not need complex grammar here. If you are pointing at a heavy box, just say हेल्प चाहिए. If you are looking at a confusing menu, say it again. It works like a verbal SOS button. You can add मुझे (mujhe) at the start to say 'I need help'. But honestly, just the two words work perfectly fine on their own.

Use it when you are shopping and cannot find the right size. Use it when you are lost in a new neighborhood. It is perfect for texting a friend when you have too much homework. In a restaurant, it is a great way to catch a waiter's attention if you are confused by the spices. It is the 'Swiss Army Knife' of Hindi requests.

Avoid this in extremely formal government offices or when speaking to very traditional elders. In those cases, the pure Hindi word सहायता (sahayata) is better. Do not use it if you are in a life-threatening emergency; in that case, just shout बचाओ! (Bachao - Save me!). Also, don't use it sarcastically unless you know the person really well, or they might think you are actually in trouble.

India loves 'Hinglish'. Mixing English nouns with Hindi verbs is how most urban Indians speak daily. It shows you are modern and approachable. Using the word 'Help' instead of the formal मदद (madad) or सहायता (sahayata) removes the heavy weight of the request. It makes asking for a favor feel light and easy rather than a huge burden.

If you want to be more polite, add जी (ji) at the end. If you are asking if *someone else* needs help, just raise your voice at the end like a question: हेल्प चाहिए?. You might also hear मदद चाहिए (Madad chahiye), which is the slightly more traditional version. In texts, you will often see it written as 'Help chahiye' in Roman script.
