Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'didn't' plus the base verb to say something didn't happen in the past. Never add -ed to the main verb!
- Use 'didn't' for all subjects (I, you, he, she, it, we, they). Example: 'I didn't go.'
- The main verb stays in its base form. Example: 'She didn't eat' (NOT 'didn't ate').
- The verb 'to be' is the only exception; it uses 'wasn't' or 'weren't' instead.

did كأنها مغناطيس قوي. في الجملة المثبتة، زمن الماضي يعيش داخل الفعل الأساسي (مثلاً walked ، ate ، saw). بس أول ما تبغى تنفي الجملة، تظهر did وتشفط كل «الماضوية» من الفعل الأساسي.did زمن الماضي، يرجع الفعل الأساسي لشكله الأصلي (base form). عشان كذا نقول "I didn't go« بدلاً من »I didn't went". الـ went تتنازل عن قواها في زمن الماضي لصالح did.finish -> finished) أو شاذ (go -> went)، صيغة النفي دايمًا تستخدم الفعل الأساسي. هذا هو «الهاك» النهائي للقواعد. بس تذكر: did هي المدير، ولما يكون المدير موجود، الفعل الأساسي ما يحتاج يتعب نفسه.
