A2 Expression غير رسمي

بعداً می‌بینم

baadan mibinam

See you later

المعنى

A common way to say goodbye with the expectation of meeting again.

🌍

خلفية ثقافية

Among young people in Tehran, this phrase is often said very quickly, almost sounding like 'Mibinam't'. It's a sign of being 'cool' and modern. In more traditional or religious households, 'Khoda-hafez' is still preferred. Using 'Ba'dan mibinamet' might be seen as a bit too 'Westernized' by grandparents. In Iranian business, even if you are friendly, the first few months usually require 'Be omid-e didar'. Only after a solid relationship is formed do people switch to 'Ba'dan mibinamet'. In Afghanistan, the equivalent is often 'Baz mibinim' (We'll see again). It's slightly more collective than the Iranian version.

💡

The 'Et' Rule

Always remember the '-et' suffix. Without it, the sentence feels unfinished to a native ear.

⚠️

Formal Trap

Don't use this with your Persian father-in-law the first time you meet him! Stick to 'Khoda-hafez'.

The Smile Factor

This phrase is almost always said with a smile or a wave. It's a high-energy goodbye.

💬

Ta'arof Buffer

If someone is Ta'arof-ing you to stay longer, 'Ba'dan mibinamet' is a polite way to insist you really must leave.
