Irregular Comparatives and Superlatives
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Most Armenian adjectives use 'ավելի' (more) or 'ամենա' (most), but a few common ones change their entire root.
- Use 'լավ' (good) → 'ավելի լավ' (better) or 'լավագույն' (best).
- Use 'վատ' (bad) → 'ավելի վատ' (worse) or 'վատագույն' (worst).
- Use 'մեծ' (big) → 'ավելի մեծ' (bigger) or 'ամենամեծ' (biggest).

Meanings
Irregular comparatives and superlatives are adjectives that do not simply add a prefix but change their form or use specific suffixes to indicate degree.
Comparative Degree
Comparing two items using 'ավելի' (more).
“Այս գիրքը ավելի լավ է։”

Superlative Degree
Indicating the highest degree using '-ագույն' suffix.
