Word Order in Questions vs. Statements
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Armenian questions rely on intonation and particle placement rather than changing the subject-verb order.
- Use rising intonation at the end of a sentence to turn a statement into a question: 'Դու գնում ես' (You are going) → 'Դու գնում ես՞' (Are you going?)
- Place interrogative words like 'ո՞րտեղ' (where) or 'ե՞րբ' (when) near the verb or at the start for emphasis.
- The particle 'մի՞թե' is used at the beginning of a sentence to express surprise or doubt.

Meanings
Armenian questions are formed primarily through prosody (intonation) and the use of specific interrogative pronouns or particles.
Yes/No Questions
Questions requiring a confirmation or denial.
“Սա քո՞ գիրքն է։”
