Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use the accusative suffix (-ı, -i, -u, -ü) when your direct object is specific or definite.

  • If the object is a specific person or thing, add the suffix: 'Kitabı oxuyuram' (I am reading [the] book).
  • If the object is general or indefinite, use no suffix: 'Kitab oxuyuram' (I am reading [a] book).
  • Proper nouns (names) always take the suffix: 'Əlini gördüm' (I saw Ali).
