Double Negation
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Kazakh, you often use multiple negative words to strengthen a negative statement, unlike English which avoids double negatives.
- Use 'еш-' words (ешкім, ештеңе) with negative verbs: Ешкім келмеді (Nobody came).
- Negative pronouns must agree with the negative verb suffix: Мен ештеңе көрмедім (I saw nothing).
- Multiple negatives do not cancel each other out; they reinforce the negative meaning.
