Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use the Renarrative Aorist when you are reporting an event you didn't witness yourself, using the past participle.

  • Use the past participle + 'бил' (for 3rd person) or omit the auxiliary for others.
  • It implies hearsay or indirect knowledge: 'Той каза, че тя дошла' (He said she arrived).
  • In the 3rd person, the auxiliary 'бил' is often omitted in casual speech.
