Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the Pluperfect (Plus-que-parfait) in the 'si' clause and the Past Conditional in the main clause to express regrets or past possibilities.
- Si + Plus-que-parfait (had done) + Conditionnel passé (would have done).
- The 'si' clause describes the condition that didn't happen: 'Si j'avais su...' (If I had known...).
- The main clause describes the impossible result: '...je serais venu.' (...I would have come).

Si nous n'avions pas freiné, nous aurions eu un accident.(اگر ترمز نکرده بودیم، تصادف کرده بودیم.) - 4تحلیلهای تاریخی: بررسی فرضیات در تاریخ. مثال:
Si la révolution avait échoué, le pays serait différent.(اگر انقلاب شکست خورده بود، کشور متفاوت میبود.)
- 1استفاده از شرطی بعد از
si: بزرگترین اشتباه فارسیزبانان این است که فکر میکنند چون در فارسی میگوییم «اگر میرفتم»، پس در فرانسه هم باید از شرطی استفاده کنند. اشتباه رایج:*Si j'aurais su. درست:Si j'avais su. - 2فراموش کردن تطابق اسم مفعول (Accord): در فارسی جنسیت دستوری نداریم، اما در فرانسه وقتی فعل با
êtreمیآید، اسم مفعول باید با فاعل تطابق یابد. مثال:Elle serait venuE(اضافه کردن e برای مؤنث). - 3اشتباه در توالی زمانها: ترکیب کردن زمانها به صورت نادرست (مثلاً استفاده از آینده در شرط). باید به خاطر داشته باشید که
siهرگز باconditionnelیاfuturدر یک جمله نمیآید.

Meanings
This structure is used to express hypothetical situations in the past that did not actually occur. It is the classic 'regret' or 'what if' construction.
Past Regret
Expressing sadness or reflection about a past action that cannot be changed.
