In Yerevan, 'Arag gna' is often shouted by marshrutka drivers to passengers who are slow to board or exit, reflecting the fast-paced, sometimes chaotic nature of city transport. In Western Armenian communities (like in Lebanon or the US), you might hear 'Արագ գնա' (Arag kna) with a slightly different pronunciation of the 'g/k' sound, but the urgency remains the same. In villages, this phrase is commonly used when herding animals or working in the fields, where timing with nature is crucial. Paradoxically, while 'Arag gna' means hurry, a host will never say this to a guest leaving their home; it would be considered very rude, as if you are kicking them out.
