文化的背景

In Laos, a fried egg is almost always deep-fried in a wok with plenty of oil, resulting in a 'bubbly' white and crispy edges, which is different from the flat, pan-fried Western style. While Westerners eat fried eggs with toast, Lao people often eat them with 'Khao Jee' (baguettes) or simply on top of a bowl of spicy noodles. Adding an egg to a dish was historically a sign of a slightly more 'premium' meal, though today it is an affordable everyday luxury for everyone. The term is identical in Thai, which means Lao people can easily order food in Thailand and vice versa without any confusion.
