Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Azerbaijani vowels must match their neighbors in 'roundness' to keep the language flowing smoothly.
- If the root has an unrounded vowel (a, ı, e, ə), the suffix stays unrounded (e.g., -lar).
- If the root has a rounded vowel (o, u, ö, ü), the suffix must also be rounded (e.g., -lar becomes -lər or -lar based on the specific suffix type).
- When in doubt, look at the last vowel of the word root to decide the suffix vowel.
