My first teacher sat me down, and the very first beat I ever played was: boom bap, boom bap.

저는 약 10살 때 첫 드럼 레슨을 받았는데, 아버지와 차를 타고 집에 가면서, 아버지가 하루에 20분씩 연습하라고 하셨던 것 같아요. 그래서 저는 '하루에 40분씩 연습할 거예요!'라고 말했어요.

I got started playing music at a very young age because of my parents.

We had a family band, so at age 13 I started to play drums with the family band.

레슨이 끝났을 때 아주 영감을 받았던 기억이 나요.

I remember hearing KC and The Sunshine Band when I was five.

밴드에서 드러머의 역할은 기본적으로 밴드의 심장 박동이에요.

It's one of my earliest memories, actually, and I was like, what is that?

전체 몸의 척추 신경이고 모두를 하나로 묶어주죠.

And knew kind of instantly that I wanted to pursue drumming.

거의 노래의 기반을 형성하고 다른 것들, 즉 멜로디, 기타, 키보드, 노래 등을 추가할 수 있는 토대를 만드는 베이시스트와 팀을 이루는 거예요.

I really liked watching footage of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard as a kid, whenever they came on TV, I was always very excited by the flamboyance and the showmanship and what have you.

드럼을 치는 사람이 좀 우유부단하면 밴드가 전혀 좋게 들리지 않아요.

And I kind of just wanted to be a piano player playing loud music.

그리고 모두가 좀 망설이게 되죠. 일관된 타임키퍼가 없으면 집중하기 어려워요.

I was a very mediocre piano player, but it was definitely a great entry into other instruments subsequently then.
