Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'أن' (an) to connect two verbs, turning the second verb into the subjunctive mood (mansoub).
- Use 'أن' after verbs of wanting, hoping, or needing: أُريدُ أنْ أَذْهَبَ (I want to go).
- The second verb must end in a fatha (a) instead of a damma (u).
- If the verb is plural, drop the final 'n' (nun) in the subjunctive: أُريدُ أنْ يَذْهَبوا (I want them to go).

أن quando o primeiro verbo expressa desejo, necessidade ou preferência. O segundo verbo deve estar sempre no presente. Nunca no passado!أن muda a última vogal do verbo no presente de uma damma (som de u) para uma fatha (som de a). Para os verbos no plural, a ação é mais drástica: apaga literalmente a letra ن (nuun) no final.
Formation Pattern
أريد - eu quero).
أن logo a seguir.
أدرسُ torna-se أن أدرسَ.
Cinco Verbos (terminados em ون, ين, ou ان), retire completamente o ن final.
ن de um plural masculino (ون), adicione um ا (alif) mudo. Exemplo: يذهبون torna-se أن يذهبوا.
أن e لا para criar ألا (alla).
When To Use It
أريد, أتمنى), necessidades (يجب أن), preferências (أفضل أن) ou possibilidades (يمكن أن). Seja para adicionar uma nota no Uber Eats (أريد أن أضيف جبنة) ou cancelar planos no WhatsApp (يجب أن أدرس), esta estrutura é fundamental.
Common Mistakes
أن (an) como أنّ (anna). أن é sempre seguido por um verbo. أنّ (que) é seguido por um substantivo ou pronome. Outro erro fatal é esquecer de retirar o ن dos verbos no plural! Dizer أريد أن تذهبون soa muito mal; diga أريد أن تذهبوا. Nunca use o passado depois de أن.Contrast With Similar Patterns
