In Iran, asking 'What should I do?' is often a prelude to a long discussion. Iranians value 'Mashverat' (consultation) and may feel ignored if you don't ask for their opinion on important matters. In Dari-speaking regions, the phrase is similar but 'Chi' is often used instead of 'Che'. The cultural emphasis on elder advice is even stronger. Tajik Persian uses 'boyad' but the surrounding sentence structure can feel more influenced by Russian syntax in formal settings. In a Persian office, asking this to a manager shows you respect the hierarchy. It is better to ask than to act alone and fail.
