A2 adjective

allumé

When we talk about something being "allumé," we're usually referring to an object that has been turned on or lit up. Think of a light switch: when you flip it, the light is allumé. Similarly, if you light a candle, it becomes allumé. It's a very practical word for describing things that are operational or illuminated.

You'll hear it often in everyday French. For example, your phone screen can be allumé, or a campfire. It's the opposite of "éteint" (switched off/extinguished). So, if something is giving off light or power, it's likely allumé.
