Experiencer Subjects: Hunger, Thirst & Feelings (mujhe... lagti hai)

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Hindi, you don't 'feel' hunger; hunger 'happens' to you. Use the dative case (mujhe) + the feeling/verb.

  • Use the oblique pronoun (mujhe, tumhe, use) instead of the subject (main, tum, vah).
  • The verb agrees with the feeling or the object, not the person experiencing it.
  • Add 'lagna' or specific feeling verbs to complete the state.
Pronoun (Oblique) + को/ko (implied in mujhe) + Feeling/State + Verb

نظرة عامة

Hindi uses dative subjects (ko/mujhe/tumhe/use) for experiences and feelings. The person experiencing is marked with ko, not the nominative:
mujhe bhookh lagi hai
(I am hungry, lit: to-me hunger has struck). Common patterns: mujhe pasand hai (I like), mujhe pata hai (I know), mujhe dar lagta hai (I feel scared).
