जितना (jitnā) و उतना (utnā).जितना و उतना. بالنسبة لنا كمتحدثين بالعربية، نحن معتادون على أن يتغير الفعل أو الصفة تبعاً للموصوف، وهذا بالضبط ما يحدث في الهندية. إذا كنت قد درست جمل الشرط في العربية، فستجد أن هذا التركيب يشبه إلى حد كبير العلاقة بين «فعل الشرط» و«جواب الشرط».जितना و उतना كأدوات تحديد كمية متلازمة. لكي تفهم كيف يعملان، يجب أن نفرق بين حالتين أساسيتين: الحالة الأولى عندما نستخدمهما مع «اسم» (Noun)، والحالة الثانية عندما نستخدمهما مع «فعل» أو «صفة» (Adverbial). في العربية، نحن نستخدم «بقدر» أو «على قدر»، وهذه الأدوات لا تتغير، لكن في الهندية، الأمر يتبع قاعدة «المطابقة» (Agreement).- 1مع الأسماء (Adjectival Function): هنا يجب أن تتغير الكلمات لتطابق الاسم من حيث التذكير والتأنيث والعدد. هذا يشبه تماماً في العربية كيف يتبع النعت المنعوت. إذا كان الاسم مذكراً مفرداً نستخدم

- 1مع الأفعال والصفات (Adverbial Function): هنا لا يوجد اسم نعده، بل نصف «مقدار» الفعل أو الصفة. في هذه الحالة، تظل الكلمات ثابتة على صيغة المذكر المفرد
जितना/उतना، لأنها لا تعود على اسم محدد بل على «حدث» أو «حالة». هذا يشبه في العربية استخدام «المفعول المطلق» أو «الحال» الذي قد يأتي جامداً في بعض السياقات.

जितना ज़रूरी है, उतना बोलो(تكلم بقدر ما هو ضروري فقط). - 4مقارنة بالواقع: عندما تعبر عن خيبة أمل أو مفاجأة، مثل
वह उतना बड़ा नहीं है जितना दिखता है(هو ليس كبيراً كما يبدو).
