Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Bulgarian verbs change their endings based on the subject; identify the group (I or II) to pick the right suffix.
- Group I verbs (ending in -а/-я) use endings like -еш, -е, -ем, -ете, -ат.
- Group II verbs (ending in -и) use endings like -иш, -и, -им, -ите, -ят.
- The subject pronoun can often be dropped because the verb ending already tells you who is acting.
Meanings
The present tense in Bulgarian describes actions happening now or habitual actions. It is formed by removing the infinitive-like ending and adding specific personal suffixes.
Ongoing Action
Action happening at the moment of speaking.

“Ти работиш сега.”
Habitual Action
Actions performed regularly.
“Всеки ден ходя на работа.”

General Truth
Facts that are always true.
