این گرامر مثل یه پل می‌مونه بین تصمیم‌های گذشته‌ت و واقعیت الان. با
If I had done
می‌تونی بگی اگه یه کاری رو تو گذشته انجام داده بودی، الان I would be چطور بودی.

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Connect a past hypothetical action to a present hypothetical state: 'If I had [done X], I would be [Y now].'

  • Use Past Perfect in the 'if' clause for the past action: 'If I had studied...'
  • Use the Present Conditional (would + verb) for the present result: '...I would be a doctor.'
  • The situation must be unreal; you didn't do the action, and the result isn't true.

### Overview
(Counterfactual Present).
تسلط بر این مبحث به شما کمک می‌کند تا پشیمانی‌ها، فرصت‌های از دست رفته، یا حتی موفقیت‌های فعلی خود را که ریشه در تصمیمات گذشته دارند، با دقت یک بومی‌زبان بیان کنید.
### How This Grammar Works
If I had taken that job in Tehran, I would be living there now.
در واقعیت (Reality):
  • من آن شغل را در تهران قبول نکردم (Past Fact).
  • من الان در تهران زندگی نمی‌کنم (Present Fact).
در این ساختار، ما با «واقعیت» سر و کار نداریم، بلکه با «تخیل» سر و کار داریم. به همین دلیل به آن Counterfactual یا «خلاف واقع» می‌گویند. تفاوت ظریف اینجاست که اگر شما از شرطی نوع سوم خالص استفاده می‌کردید (If I had taken that job, I would have lived there)، یعنی هم شرط و هم نتیجه در گذشته تمام شده‌اند.
### Formation Pattern
ساختار فرمولی این گرامر بسیار دقیق است. برای ساختن این جملات، باید از الگوی زیر پیروی کنید:
| بخش جمله | ساختار دستوری (Tense) | مثال | معادل منطقی در فارسی |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| If Clause (شرط) | If + Subject + had + V3 (Past Perfect) | If I had studied medicine... | اگه پزشکی خونده بودم... (ماضی بعید) |
| Main Clause (نتیجه) | Subject + would/could/might + Verb (Base form) | ...I would be a doctor now. | ...الان پزشک بودم. (حال فرضی) |
نکات کلیدی در تشکیل جمله:
  • استفاده از Had + Past Participle: این بخش نشان‌دهنده یک «فرصت از دست رفته» در گذشته است. حتماً به یاد داشته باشید که در انگلیسی سطح C1، مخفف کردن (I'd had, She'd known) در مکالمات غیررسمی بسیار رایج است، اما در نوشته‌های آکادمیک باید به صورت کامل نوشته شود.
  • استفاده از Modalها در بخش نتیجه:
  • Would: برای بیان یک نتیجه قطعی فرضی. (I would be rich = حتماً ثروتمند بودم)
  • Could: برای بیان توانایی یا امکان فرضی در حال حاضر. (I could help you = الان می‌توانستم کمکت کنم)
  • Might: برای بیان یک احتمال ضعیف در حال حاضر. (I might be happier = شاید الان خوشحال‌تر بودم)
ترتیب جملات:
مانند تمام جملات شرطی، می‌توانید جای دو بند را عوض کنید. اگر بند If در ابتدا بیاید، استفاده از کاما (,) الزامی است. اگر بند اصلی در ابتدا بیاید، نیازی به کاما نیست.
  • If she had followed the map, she wouldn't be lost now.
  • She wouldn't be lost now if she had followed the map.
در فارسی، ما معمولاً عادت داریم جمله را با «اگر» شروع کنیم، اما در انگلیسی حرفه‌ای، جابجا کردن این بندها برای تأکید بر نتیجه بسیار مرسوم است.
### When To Use It
کاربرد این گرامر در موقعیت‌های واقعی زندگی بسیار گسترده است. در اینجا به چند سناریوی ملموس برای فارسی‌زبانان اشاره می‌کنیم:
۱. بیان حسرت یا پشیمانی (Regret):
بسیاری از ما در دورهمی‌های خانوادگی یا دوستانه درباره تصمیمات گذشته صحبت می‌کنیم.
مثال: If I had saved more money in my 20s, I would own a house now.
If the company had invested in digital marketing last year, we would be the market leader today.
If I hadn't met my mentor at university, I wouldn't be as successful as I am today.
(اگر استاد راهنمایم را در دانشگاه ملاقات نکرده بودم، امروز به این اندازه موفق نبودم.)
۴. انتقاد از دیگران:
می‌توان از این ساختار برای گوشزد کردن اشتباهات دیگران که نتیجه‌اش در حال حاضر مشهود است استفاده کرد.
مثال: If you had listened to my advice, you wouldn't be in this mess right now.
### Common Mistakes
If I studied harder for the exam, I would have my degree now.
  • درست: If I had studied harder for the exam, I would have my degree now.
If I had won the lottery, I would have been rich now.
  • درست: If I had won the lottery, I would be rich now.
توضیح: اگر بگویید would have been یعنی در گذشته ثروتمند بودم (و شاید الان دیگر نیستم). اما وقتی می‌گویید would be یعنی این ثروتمند بودن شامل «الان» هم می‌شود. کلمه now در انتهای جمله بهترین راهنما برای انتخاب فعل صحیح است.
۳. حذف فاعل (Pro-drop):
زبان فارسی یک زبان Pro-drop است، یعنی ما می‌توانیم فاعل را حذف کنیم (مثلاً می‌گوییم: «اگه رفته بودم، الان می‌رسیدم»). اما در انگلیسی، هر دو بند جمله «حتماً» به فاعل نیاز دارند.
  • اشتباه: If had gone, would be there.
  • درست: If I had gone, I would be there.
۴. اشتباه در جایگذاری not در فعل‌های منفی:
در ساختار had + p.p منفی، not باید بعد از had بیاید. برخی زبان‌آموزان به اشتباه آن را بعد از فعل اصلی می‌آورند.
  • اشتباه: If I had worked not so hard...
  • درست: If I had not (hadn't) worked so hard...
### Contrast With Similar Patterns
برای درک بهتر، بیایید این ساختار را با دو ساختار نزدیک به آن مقایسه کنیم. این جدول به شما کمک می‌کند تا تفاوت‌های ظریف زمانی را درک کنید:
| نوع شرطی | ساختار (If + Result) | تمرکز زمانی | مثال |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Third Conditional | Had + V3 / Would have + V3 | گذشته / گذشته | If I had studied, I would have passed. (در گذشته درس نخواندم و در گذشته هم رد شدم) |
| Mixed Conditional | Had + V3 / Would + Base Verb | گذشته / حال | If I had studied, I would be a graduate now. (در گذشته درس نخواندم و الان فارغ‌التحصیل نیستم) |
| Second Conditional | Past Simple / Would + Base Verb | حال / حال | If I studied more, I would be successful. (به طور کلی زیاد درس نمی‌خوانم و الان هم موفق نیستم) |
نکته ظریف برای سطح C1:
تفاوت بین Mixed Conditional و Second Conditional در این است که در Mixed ما به یک واقعه خاص در گذشته اشاره داریم (If I had taken that flight)، اما در شرطی نوع دوم به یک وضعیت کلی یا فرضی در زمان حال اشاره می‌کنیم (If I were brave).
یک نوع دیگر از شرطی ترکیبی هم وجود دارد که برعکس این است (شرط در حال، نتیجه در گذشته)، اما رایج‌ترین و پرکاربردترین نوع همان است که در این درسنامه بررسی کردیم: علت در گذشته، معلول در حال.
### Quick FAQ
۱. آیا می‌توانم به جای would از will استفاده کنم؟
خیر. به هیچ وجه. چون ما در حال صحبت درباره یک موقعیت «خیالی و غیرواقعی» هستیم، حتماً باید از وجه شرطی (Modal در زمان گذشته) استفاده کنیم. will برای آینده واقعی و محتمل است، در حالی که این گرامر درباره «آنچه می‌توانست باشد ولی نیست» صحبت می‌کند.
۲. تفاوت would be و would be doing در بخش نتیجه چیست؟
هر دو درست هستند. would be به یک حالت یا وضعیت (State) اشاره دارد (مثل پزشک بودن)، اما would be doing به فعالیتی اشاره دارد که همین الان می‌توانست در حال انجام باشد.
مثال: If I hadn't missed the bus, I would be sitting in the office now. (الان در دفتر نشسته بودم - استمرار در حال).
۳. آیا استفاده از If I were هم در این ساختار ممکن است؟
بله، اما آن نوع دیگری از شرطی ترکیبی است. وقتی می‌گویید If I were you, I would have called him

British speakers often use 'should' instead of 'would' in the first person, though it is becoming archaic: 'If I had known, I should be quite cross now.'

Americans are very likely to use 'would have' in the if-clause in informal speech, which is technically incorrect but very common: 'If I would have known...'

In history and political science, this grammar is used for 'Counterfactual History' to analyze what might have happened.

Conditionals in English evolved from Old English 'gif' (if) which required the subjunctive mood. Over time, the distinct subjunctive forms merged with the indicative, leading to the use of 'had' and 'would' to signal hypotheticality.
