诊断
When you're trying to figure out what's wrong, you're 诊断 (zhěn duàn). This verb is used when a doctor identifies an illness, or when an engineer figures out the problem with a machine. You can also use it in a more abstract sense, like when you diagnose a problem in a business or a situation. It's all about pinpointing the issue.
