Man tai nepatinka

Lithuanians value 'tiesumas' (directness). Saying 'Man tai nepatinka' is not considered rude if said calmly; it is seen as being honest about one's boundaries. In the Baltics, there is a cultural tendency toward stoicism. People may not use many superlatives, so a simple 'nepatinka' is a strong enough statement of disapproval. There is often a generational gap in how dislike is expressed. Younger Lithuanians might use more English-influenced slang, while older generations stick to the classic 'nepatinka'. In Lithuanian social media, 'nepatinka' is the literal translation for 'dislike' or 'thumbs down'.
