Placement of Adverbs in Sentences
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Bengali, adverbs usually sit comfortably before the verb or at the very beginning of the sentence.
- Time adverbs often start the sentence: 'আজ আমি যাব' (Today I will go).
- Manner adverbs sit right before the verb: 'সে দ্রুত দৌড়ায়' (He runs fast).
- Frequency adverbs can be flexible but prefer the pre-verbal position: 'আমি রোজ পড়ি' (I read daily).

Adverbs in Bengali modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs, providing context about time, place, manner, or frequency.
Manner
How an action is performed.
“সে ধীরে হাঁটে।”

Time
When an action happens.
“কাল আমি ঢাকা যাব।”

How often an action occurs.
