-er ستجعل نطقها صعباً ومزعجاً. تخيل لو قلت interestering-er، لسانك سيتعب بالتأكيد!more. وأيضاً، لا تنسَ كلمة than؛ فهي الجسر الواصل بين الشيئين اللذين تقارن بينهما. بدون than تكون المقارنة ناقصة.
نمط التكوين
-er في نهايتها. فتصبح Fast -> faster و Small -> smaller.
Big -> bigger و Hot -> hotter. (فكر في الأمر كأن الكلمة تصبح أقوى لتتمكن من حمل النهاية الجديدة).
-y؛ حول الـ -y إلى -i وأضف -er. فتصبح Happy -> happier و Easy -> easier.
more قبل الصفة. فتصبح Expensive -> more expensive و Beautiful -> more beautiful.

متى نستخدمها
comparatives عندما تختار بين خيارين، أو عندما تلاحظ تغيراً بمرور الوقت. مثلاً: المدينة noisier مما كانت عليه قبل عشر سنوات. استخدمها على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي لتقارن حياتك بحياة الآخرين (بحذر!).cheaper وقطعة الستيك الـ more expensive. إنها مثالية لفيديوهات الـ vlogging أثناء السفر: هذا المنظر more incredible من المنظر السابق!. وفي مقابلات العمل، استخدمها لتظهر نموك وتطورك: أنا more organized الآن عما كنت عليه في وظيفتي السابقة.
الأخطاء الشائعة
more bigger أو more faster. الأمر يشبه ارتداء قبعتين فوق بعضهما؛ يبدو غبياً وغير ضروري. اختر واحداً فقط! إما أن تستخدم ذيل الـ -er أو مساعد الـ more. انزلاق آخر شائع هو استخدام that بدلاً من than. تذكر: than للمقارنة، أما that فللإشارة. ولا تنسَ الحالات الشاذة؛ فالكثير من الناس يقولون gooder أو badder. رغم أنها قد تبدو لطيفة، إلا أنها خاطئة. استخدم better و worse. وأخيراً، انتبه لقاعدة مضاعفة الحرف (CVC)؛ فكتابة biger بدلاً من bigger هو خطأ صغير يجعلك تبدو less professional. The comparative form is used to compare differences between the two objects it modifies (larger, smaller, faster, higher). It is used in sentences where two nouns are compared.
Short Adjectives
Adding the suffix '-er' to adjectives with one syllable.
