The 'Panelház' culture is huge. About 2 million Hungarians live in these pre-fabricated 'magas házak'. They have their own unique social atmosphere. Until recently, no building could be taller than 96 meters to respect the Parliament. This kept the 'magas házak' relatively short compared to other capitals. In Hungarian-speaking parts of Romania, 'tömbház' is more common than 'magas ház' for apartment blocks. In villages, a 'magas ház' might just be a two-story house, as most traditional houses are ground-floor only.
