This phrase is incredibly versatile because it bridges the gap between Modern Standard Arabic and daily dialects. If you are a man, you say حاسس (hasses). If you are a woman, you say حاسة (hassa). You can drop the "I" (أنا) because the word حاسس already implies you are the one feeling it. Just say the phrase, sigh a little, and people will immediately understand you are going through a transition. It is a great way to avoid giving a long, detailed explanation when your head is spinning.

Use this during major life milestones. Graduation is a classic example. You are proud of your degree but terrified of the real world. Moving to a new city is another one. You love the new view but miss your mom’s cooking. You can also use it in relationships. Maybe you are happy an ex found someone new, but a tiny part of you feels a sting. It shows a level of emotional intelligence that is highly respected in social circles today. If you want to sound more intense, you can say مشاعري متناقضة (masha'iri mutanaqida), which means "my feelings are contradictory." This implies your emotions are actually fighting each other. In Egyptian dialect, you might hear مش عارف أنا مالي (I don't know what's wrong with me), which is the more informal, slightly frustrated cousin of our phrase.
