rather thanاستفاده میشود که معادل «به جایِ» یا «تا اینکه» در فارسی است. - *مثال:*
.I would rather drink tea than coffee(ترجیح میدهم چای بنوشم تا اینکه قهوه بخورم.)
then هیچ ربطی به مقایسه ندارد. then یک قید (Adverb) است که به زمان، ترتیب اتفاقات، یا نتیجهگیری اشاره میکند.then در زبان فارسی کلماتی مثل «سپس»، «بعد»، «در آن زمان»، یا «در این صورت / پس» هستند.- توالی و ترتیب اتفاقات (Sequence): وقتی میخواهید بگویید اول چه اتفاقی افتاد و بعد چه شد. این کاربرد در دستورالعملها یا تعریف کردن خاطرات بسیار رایج است.

Meanings
The distinction between 'than' (a conjunction used for comparisons) and 'then' (an adverb used to indicate time or consequence).
