### Overview
### How This Grammar Works
ساختار Where is...?
در یک جمله خبری، می‌گوییم The hotel is here. اما برای سوالی کردن، باید جای فعل و فاعل را عوض کنیم: Is the hotel here?.
حالا وقتی کلمه Where را اضافه می‌کنیم، این نظم حفظ می‌شود: Where is the hotel?.
### Formation Pattern
فرمول کلی برای ساختن این سوال بسیار ساده و کاربردی است. کافی است این الگو را به خاطر بسپارید:
Where + is + (article/determiner) + (singular noun)?
در جدول زیر، اجزای این ساختار را مشاهده می‌کنید:
| بخش جمله | نقش دستوری | مثال | توضیح |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Where | قید پرسشی | Where | همیشه در ابتدای جمله می‌آید |
| is | فعل | is | فعلِ بودن برای مفرد |
| the / a / an | حرف تعریف | the, a | برای مشخص کردن اسم |
| my / your | صفت ملکی | my, your | برای مالکیت |
| Singular Noun | فاعل | station | چیزی که دنبالش هستیم |
نکته مهم: در مکالمات روزمره، انگلیسی‌زبانان تقریباً همیشه از مخفف Where's استفاده می‌کنند. به جای گفتن Where is the book? می‌گویند Where's the book?. این کار باعث می‌شود جملات شما طبیعی‌تر و روان‌تر به نظر برسد.
### When To Use It
این ساختار در زندگی روزمره کاربردهای بی‌شماری دارد. از پیدا کردن یک آدرس در خیابان گرفته تا پیدا کردن کلیدهایتان در خانه.
  1. 1پیدا کردن اشیاء: وقتی وسیله‌ای را گم کرده‌اید، مثلاً Where is my phone? (گوشی من کجاست؟).
  2. 2پرسیدن آدرس: وقتی در شهر غریبه هستید و می‌خواهید به ایستگاه مترو بروید، می‌پرسید Where is the subway station?.
  3. 3پیدا کردن یک مکان عمومی: وقتی به دنبال هر نوع داروخانه‌ای هستید، می‌گویید Where is a pharmacy? (یک داروخانه کجاست؟). توجه کنید که استفاده از a نشان می‌دهد که «هر» داروخانه‌ای برای شما کافی است.
  4. 4پرسش درباره اشخاص: مثلاً در محیط کار می‌پرسید Where is the manager? (مدیر کجاست؟).
  5. 5محیط‌های دیجیتال و نقشه‌ها: وقتی در حال کار با یک اپلیکیشن هستید و دکمه تنظیمات را پیدا نمی‌کنید، می‌پرسید Where is the settings button?.
### Common Mistakes
Where is the bank?.
  1. 1عدم استفاده از حروف تعریف: در فارسی ما «کتاب» را هم برای «یک کتاب» و هم «آن کتاب» به کار می‌بریم. اما در انگلیسی، وقتی درباره یک اسم مفردِ قابل شمارش صحبت می‌کنید، حتماً باید از a, an یا the استفاده کنید. گفتنِ Where is bank? برای یک انگلیسی‌زبان، شبیه به این است که شما در فارسی بگویید «کجا هست بانک؟» که بسیار عجیب است.
  1. 1اشتباه در تطابق فعل و فاعل: فارسی‌زبانان گاهی فراموش می‌کنند که is فقط برای مفرد است. مثلاً برای کلیدها که جمع هستند، اشتباهاً می‌گویند Where is my keys?. به یاد داشته باشید: مفرد = is، جمع = are.
### Contrast With Similar Patterns
در جدول زیر، تفاوت ساختاری بین فارسی و انگلیسی را برای درک بهتر مقایسه کرده‌ایم:
| وضعیت | ساختار فارسی | ساختار انگلیسی |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| سوالی کردن | تغییر لحن (کتاب کجاست؟) | جابه‌جایی فعل و فاعل (Where is the book?) |
| حرف تعریف | وجود ندارد (کتاب) | الزامی (the book / a book) |
| ترتیب کلمات | فاعل + مفعول + فعل (کتاب کجاست) | کلمه پرسشی + فعل + فاعل (Where is the book) |
### Quick FAQ
۱. آیا می‌توانم فقط بگویم Station?؟
بله، در شرایط اضطراری متوجه می‌شوند، اما این کار در انگلیسی بی‌ادبانه یا خیلی کوتاه تلقی می‌شود. همیشه بهتر است از جمله کامل استفاده کنید.
۲. تفاوت a و the در سوال چیست؟
وقتی می‌گویید Where is the bank? یعنی دنبال یک بانکِ خاص هستید (مثلاً همان بانکی که قرار است پول برداشت کنید). وقتی می‌گویید Where is a bank? یعنی دنبال «هر» بانکی هستید که نزدیک باشد.
۳. آیا Where is همیشه باید مخفف شود؟
در نوشته‌های رسمی (مثل نامه‌های اداری یا مقالات)، بهتر است از Where is استفاده کنید. اما در مکالمات دوستانه، محیط کار و پیامک‌ها، استفاده از Where's نه تنها مجاز، بلکه توصیه می‌شود چون لحن شما را طبیعی‌تر می‌کند.

Use 'The' for Public Places

When asking for a place everyone knows (the park, the station, the bathroom), always use 'the'. Saying 'Where is park?' sounds like the park is a person named Park.
⚠️

Don't Forget 'Is'

In many languages, you can skip the verb. In English, 'Where the bus?' is incorrect. You must say 'Where IS the bus?'
🎯

The 'Where's' Shortcut

Native speakers almost never say 'Where is' in casual conversation. Use 'Where's' to sound more natural and fluent immediately.
💬

Politeness Matters

If you are asking a stranger, always start with 'Excuse me'. It changes a demand into a polite request.

Use the contraction 'Where's' followed by the noun.

No, 'keys' is plural. You must say `Where are the keys?` Use `is` only for one thing.

Yes, `Where's` is acceptable in most spoken contexts, but in formal writing, it is better to use the full `Where is`.

In English, liquids like milk or water are 'uncountable' and we treat them as singular. So, we use `is`.

Use `it` for objects or places (Where is the park? -> Where is it?). Use `he` or `she` for people.

It's better to say `Where is the bank?` or `Where is the bank located?`. Putting 'located' before the subject sounds a bit unnatural.

Use `the` if you are looking for a specific one or the nearest one. Use `a` if any hospital will do, though `the` is much more common.

You can say `It is [preposition] [place]`. For example: `It is on the table` or `It is in London`.

No, for time we use `When is`. `Where is` is only for physical or digital locations.
