Where is...? للبحث عن موقع الأشياء أو الأشخاص أو الأماكن. بالنسبة لنا كمتحدثين باللغة العربية، قد تبدو هذه الصيغة سهلة للوهلة الأولى، لكنها تحمل في طياتها قواعد جوهرية تختلف تماماً عن منطق لغتنا الأم. فبينما يمكننا في العربية أن نقول ببساطة «أين المحطة؟» (أداة استفهام + اسم)، تصر اللغة الإنجليزية على وجود فعل يربط بينهما، وهو فعل الكينونة is.the mosque أو «السوق» the market أو حتى «فنجان قهوة» a cup of coffee. يلّا نبدأ رحلتنا في فهم هذا التركيب!Where is...? بشكل صحيح، يجب أن ننظر إليها من منظور المقارنة بين العربية والإنجليزية. في لغتنا العربية، لدينا ما يسمى بـ «الجملة الاسمية»، حيث يمكننا قول «أين الكتاب؟». هنا، «أين» هي أداة الاستفهام، و«الكتاب» هو المبتدأ، ولا يوجد فعل ظاهر في الجملة.is ليكون الجسر الذي يربط بين السؤال والمكان.- 1أداة الاستفهام
Where: تعادل تماماً «أين» في العربية. وظيفتها الوحيدة هي السؤال عن المكان (Location). هي كلمة ثابتة لا تتغير أبداً سواء كنت تسأل عن مذكر أو مؤنث، مفرد أو جمع.
- 1فعل الكينونة
is: هذا هو البطل الخفي. في الإنجليزية، لا يمكننا حذف فعل «يكون». عندما تقولWhere is the bank?فأنت حرفياً تقول «أين يكون البنك؟». نستخدمisتحديداً لأننا نسأل عن شيء واحد فقط (مفرد). هذا ما نسميه في القواعد (Subject-Verb Agreement) أو مطابقة الفعل للفاعل.
- 1الاسم المفرد (The Subject): هو الشيء الذي تبحث عنه. وهنا تبرز نقطة هامة جداً للمتعلم العربي، وهي ضرورة استخدام أداة قبل الاسم (مثل
theأوa). في العربية نقول «أين بنك؟» أو «أين البنك؟»، لكن في الإنجليزية، الاسم المفرد المعدود لا يقف وحده أبداً.
