A2 verb

s'apprêter

گرامر لازم

Like many reflexive verbs, 's'apprêter' uses 'être' as its auxiliary verb in compound tenses.

Elle s'est apprêtée pour la fête. (She got ready for the party.)

The reflexive pronoun ('se') agrees with the subject of the verb. For 's'apprêter,' this means it changes based on who is getting ready.

Je m'apprête. (I get myself ready.) Tu t'apprêtes. (You get yourself ready.) Nous nous apprêtons. (We get ourselves ready.)

'S'apprêter' can be followed by an infinitive verb, meaning 'to be about to do something' or 'to get ready to do something.'

Il s'apprête à partir. (He is about to leave.)

When followed by an infinitive, the preposition 'à' is used between 's'apprêter' and the infinitive.

Nous nous apprêtons à manger. (We are getting ready to eat.)

In negative sentences, the 'ne' comes before the reflexive pronoun and the 'pas' comes after the conjugated verb.

Elle ne s'apprête pas rapidement. (She doesn't get ready quickly.)
