You can use this phrase exactly as it is. Just point at a shirt or a pair of shoes and say yǒu bié de yánsè ma?. If you want to be more specific, you can add the object at the beginning. For example, zhè jiàn yīfu yǒu bié de yánsè ma? means "Does this piece of clothing have other colors?"

Use it whenever you are browsing. It works at high-end malls or street markets. It is perfect for when you find a great fit but hate the neon green. You can also use it when looking at furniture or even phone cases. It is a very polite and standard way to inquire.

Don't use this if you are looking for a different size. For that, you need dà hào (large size) or xiǎo hào (small size). Also, don't use it for things that obviously only have one color, like a specific fruit. Asking a vendor if an orange has "other colors" might get you some very confused looks!

In China, color choice is deeply personal and sometimes symbolic. Red is lucky, while white is often associated with funerals. Younger generations love muted "Morandi" colors or vibrant "Ins-style" palettes. Vendors expect you to ask this. They often keep the "good" colors in the back storage to save shelf space.
